Call for Papers for June 1, 2012 issue
On the Experience with Environmental Taxation

Guest edited  by
Thomas Sterner (University of Goetheborg)
Maria Damon (New York University)

The issue is planned as a contribution to the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development 2012 (RIO+20) to be held in June 2012. The conference has “greening the world economy” as one of its main objectives.
The Editors are looking for the following type of submissions: Overview articles with “lessons learnt” in both industrialized and developing countries; Interesting case studies showing how environmental taxation can promote sustainability; Focus on sustainability and development; Focus on environmental effect and obstacles to implementation rather than on abstract modeling.
If you are interested in contributing a research or policy paper broadly related to the topic at hand
please directly contact

Call for Papers

The Journal of Environment & Development welcomes original research contributions, policy analyses, and book reviews on all subject matters at the crossroads of environment and development, as well as occasional reports on important international conferences. We are currently particularly interested in submissions that relate to the following subjects:

  • Conservation of biological diversity and land use management;
  • Oceans and fisheries management;
  • National implementation of Agenda 21 and sustainable development strategies;
  • Environmental policy reform in developing economies;
  • Sustainable consumption and production patterns;
  • International environmental negotiations and global environmental governance and regimes;
  • Climate change negotiations post Kyoto;
  • Recent national climate and energy policies.

Submission policy:
Authors submitting manuscripts to the Journal of Environment & Development should keep the journal's broad interdisciplinary audience in mind and articles should be written in an accessible style. The JED will consider original manuscripts not previously published or currently under consideration elsewhere. Contributions presented at conferences and workshops are welcome, as long as they are not published in the same form in conference proceedings or on the Internet. The JED publishes articles under the following categories: research articles, policy analyses, regional & conference reports and book reviews. Manuscripts have to meet minimum JED standards in terms of topical fit, analytical rigor, and clarity of writing before being forwarded to external peer review. See detailed submission guidelines. For further inquiries contact us at envdev@ucsd.edu.

Special Issues:
JED is looking for partners and financial contributions for producing occasional special issues. For suggestions for special issues contact the Editor-in-Chief.
